The Australian Embassy to Morocco
DFAT entered into an agreement with the Canadian Government to construct a new Australian Embassy in Rabat on vacant land within the Canadian Embassy compound. In order to minimise disruption to Canadian Embassy operations, a prefabricated building delivery methodology was selected.
GPS were initially engaged to undertake a Research and Development exercise in collaboration with DFAT and the Australian prefabrication industry to confirm the feasibility of the proposal, and to develop a Functional Design Brief for the procurement of a prefabricated building contractor under a Design and Construct contract.
With the methodology approved GPS were asked to project manage the procurement of suppliers as well as the design and delivery of the new Embassy on behalf of DFAT.
Now complete the Australian Embassy in Rabat stands as an exemplar for the delivery of high quality modular, off site construction projects and is currently a finalist in the 2021 Australian Property Council Awards for Development Innovation.
